Darkstorm - Road Trips (by Abdullah Al-wali)

Known around the Manchester – Huddersfield connection for mixing anywhere with vinyl decks and whiskey, Martin Floorplan is a Glasgow native that moved south down the isle to get a closer look at what was driving his beloved music scene. Manchester has provided the ripe musical location to nurture the vinyl addiction and Huddersfield’s Floorplan nights with the live experience to hone in on a mixing style that suits his own mentality. Now known as MFP, he has gifted us a mix recorded in one take at his home, that takes full advantage of his extensive and varied collection of electronic music designed to suck you into the sound.
Moving from soulful warm the Detroit house of Moodymann to sweaty floor fillers like Anthony Naples’ recent Faceless and back again via a bit of Deetron’s techno infused remix of George Fitzgerald, there’s no lull in this mix. Just put it on and enjoy for 45 minutes. Then see if you can resist buying one of those records.
Previous podcasts have been more minimally minded but MFP has brought us back down to Earth. We feel he exemplifies one of our favourite schools of thought in dance music, pure mixing, not fluff or overbearing effects just tunes to make you groove and feel SOMETHING.
